Remembering the Forgotten War

first_imgLocal Korean War veterans, families and students from Master Oh’s Taekwondo summer camp took time out Tuesday morning to remember the 69th anniversary of the start of the Korean War. On June 25, 1950, communist North Korean forces invaded the south. Active fighting continued on the Korean Peninsula for more than three years and resulted in an estimated 1.2 million battle deaths, including more than 33,000 Americans. An armistice was signed in 1953, ending active fighting, but no peace agreement has been signed.last_img
