WWI ambulance replica topic of museum talk


first_imgThe creation of a replica World War I ambulance will be the topic of a discussion at the Clark County Historical Museum on July 6.The presentation will be at 7 p.m. at the museum, 1511 Main St.Members of the Vancouver Barracks Military Association are constructing the replica of a U.S. Army M1917 ambulance for use as a working interpretive display, to commemorate the centennial of America entering WWI. Once it is in running condition, the ambulance will be driven in parades, and set up in re-enactments or museum displays, with VBMA members acting as interpreters of WWI history.The vehicle is built on a 1917 Model T chassis the group bought from a Spokane farmer.Admission: $5 for adults; $4 for seniors; $3 for children under 18; free for museum members.Doors open at 5 p.m. For information, contact the museum at [email protected] or call 360-993-5679.last_img read more
