Workplace Giving has two emails which they ask companies to send out to all employees at the start and on the last day of the campaign, so they can easily sign up online.Workplace Giving will also be encourage every employee who does start giving as a result to share what they have done on social media and join the #unselfie movement, one of the hallmarks of the #GivingTuesday campaign internationally. He said:“#GivingTuesday is a great opportunity to put charitable giving at the top of the agenda in the run up to Christmas but we wanted to do something that would mean that the generosity of employees had a lasting effect. By encouraging employees to sign up to Workplace Giving rather than giving a one off donation not only will the charities of their choice receive donations as tax effectively and seamlessly as possible but employees also continue to give for an average of 8 years via their pay”.He pointed out that a £10 a month donation from a higher rate tax payer could be worth over £1,600 to the charity over the lifetime of their giving (£10 net becomes £16.67 gross to charity, which over eight years totals £1,600.32).
