Pacific Eden, Pacific Aria Get a New Look


first_imgzoom Singapore-listed Sembcorp Marine (SCM) has completed the upgrades of the cruise ships Pacific Eden (formerly Statendam) and the Pacific Aria (formerly Ryndam) for Australian P&O Cruises.The repair, refurbishment and conversion works of the two cruise vessels were undertaken at the company’s Admiralty Yard, Singapore.Following the transformation of the ships, P&O Cruises, brand of Carnival Group, announced that Pacific Eden will start her maiden voyage from Fremantle, Australia, and continue cruising from Fremantle in 2016 and again in 2017.Pacific Eden and her sister ship Pacific Aria will be christened in a dual naming ceremony in Sydney Harbour on November 25.With the completion of these works, Sembcorp Marine said that its shipyard reached a record of 12 cruise ships repaired in a single year.“2015 has been a busy year for Sembcorp Marine in the area of cruise ship refits and upgrading,” said Sembcorp Marine Executive Vice President and Head of Repairs & Upgrades Wong Lee Lin.,Pacific Eden and her sister ship Pacific Aria will be christened in a dual naming ceremony in Sydney Harbour on November 25.With the completion of these works, Sembcorp Marine said that its shipyard reached a record of 12 cruise ships repaired in a single year.“2015 has been a busy year for Sembcorp Marine in the area of cruise ship refits and upgrading,” said Sembcorp Marine Executive Vice President and Head of Repairs & Upgrades Wong Lee Lin.last_img read more


Norways State Secretary to visit Sri Lanka next week


State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, Tore Hattrem, is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka from 31 May – 2 June 2016, the Foreign Ministry said today.The State Secretary will meet the Minister of Foreign Affairs on 31 May where discussions are expected to take place on follow-up to the visit in January this year of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende. He had served as Ambassador to Sri Lanka from 2007 to 2010. (Colombo Gazette) He will visit Jaffna on 1st June where he will meet the Governor of the Northern Province Reginald Cooray and Chief Minister Justice C.V. Wigneswaran. State Secretary Hattrem will also meet the Leader of Opposition R. Sampanthan, Minister for development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama, Minister for Urban Development, Water Supply and Drainage Rauff Hakeem, and the Secretary General of the Secretariat for Reconciliation Mechanisms Mano Tittawella. read more
