Halifax Prepares to Host International Business Conference


first_imgDelegates from more than 40 countries will arrive in Halifax next week for the 53rd International Council for Small Business. “We’re proud our region was chosen to host such a prestigious international event,” said Premier Rodney MacDonald. “Small business is very important to our province and we look forward to the opportunity to show the world what Nova Scotia has to offer.” Nearly 600 small business practitioners, policy makers, researchers and educators from around the globe will spend three days attending lectures and workshops on successful small business development and growth. “This conference highlights how integral small business is to our economy,” said Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency Minister Peter MacKay. “The results of the International Council for Small Business conference will bring long-term benefits to our small businesses, economy and communities.” The 2008 conference, Advancing Small Business and Entrepreneurship: From Research to Results, takes place from June 22 to 25 at the World Trade and Convention Centre, Halifax. It is co-hosted by the council’s affiliate, the Canadian Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship. The event is organized by the Acadia Centre for Social and Business Entrepreneurship, Dalhousie University Faculty of Management, and Saint Mary’s University Business Development Centre.
